Ed Lauter began his career in the entertainment industry as a stand-up comedian. However, first acting rolesm of
Ed Lauter, in the early 1970s were in dramatic films, such as his celebrated portrayal of Captain Knaur in Robert Aldrich’s The Longest Yard in 1974.
Ed Lauter has since become one of film and television’s leading character actors. TV credits of
Ed Lauter include "Last Hours Before Morning," "B.J. and the Bear" and Stephen King’s "The Golden Years." Ed Lauter has also been a guest star in numerous TV productions, including "The Streets of San Francisco," "The X-Files," "Walker Texas Ranger," "ER," "CSI," "Charmed" and "Law & Order." Ed Lauter’s involvement in feature films has been similarly prolific. Among his most well-known films are Gleaming the Cube, The White Buffalo, Cujo, Girls Just Want to Have Fun, Born on the Fourth of July, The Rocketeer, School Ties, Leaving Las Vegas, Mulholland Falls, Thirteen Days, Not Another Teen Movie and Seabiscuit. Ed Lauter has also just recently completed a role in the upcoming film Art Heist.
